Apples:
- 5 Honeycrisp apples, peeled, cored, and chunked or sliced
- 1 lemon, juiced (about 2 tablespoons)
Crumb Topping:
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup white sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup cold butter
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Dish – Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly spray the bottom of a 9-inch casserole dish or pie dish with nonstick baking spray.
- Prepare the Apples – Toss the apple slices with lemon juice and place half of the apples in the bottom of the prepared dish.
- Make the Crumb Topping – In a food processor, combine the flour, brown sugar, white sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt. Add the cold butter gradually, pulsing after each addition until the mixture forms coarse crumbs.
- Layer and Bake – Sprinkle half of the crumb mixture over the apples. Add the remaining apple slices and top with the rest of the crumb mixture. Bake for 40-45 minutes until browned.
- Serve Warm – Allow to cool slightly before serving. Best served warm.
