Mozzarella Rounds:
- 8 slices fresh mozzarella
Breading:
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 2 cups panko breadcrumbs
Marinara Sauce:
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup tomato puree
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Mix together the flour and garlic powder in one dish.
- Place the panko breadcrumbs in a separate dish.
- Bread the mozzarella rounds by coating them in flour, dipping in the egg mixture, and then coating with panko.
- Place the breaded mozzarella on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze.
- In a saucepan, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat and sauté the minced garlic for 1 minute.
- Add the tomato puree and season with salt, onion powder, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Simmer the marinara sauce while preparing the mozzarella.
- Preheat a Blackstone griddle over medium heat.
- Drizzle olive oil on the griddle surface. Cook the breaded mozzarella rounds until golden brown on both sides, adding more oil if needed.
- Serve the fried mozzarella with the marinara sauce.
