Description

A refreshing Blueberry Lemon Iced Tea made with green tea, fresh blueberries, and a hint of lemon juice, sweetened naturally with honey and served chilled over ice. Perfect for a rejuvenating summer drink.

Ingredients

Scale

Tea

  • 4 cups water (semi-boiled)
  • 6 tea bags of green tea

Blueberry Lemon Mixture

  • 1/2 lb fresh blueberries (rinsed)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp honey

To Serve

  • Ice
  • Lemon wedges (for garnish)
  • Fresh blueberries (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat Water: In a large teapot or saucepan, heat 4 cups of water to just before boiling. If water boils, let it cool briefly to avoid burning the tea.
  2. Steep Tea: Add 6 green tea bags to the covered teapot or saucepan and steep for 3 minutes. Remove and discard tea bags without squeezing. Allow the tea to cool.
  3. Prepare Blueberry Lemon Mixture: While the tea is steeping, combine rinsed blueberries, 1 cup of water, and fresh lemon juice in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium and simmer for about 8 minutes.
  4. Strain Mixture: Remove the saucepan from heat. Using a sieve over a large bowl, carefully strain the blueberry mixture, letting the juice pass through but separating and discarding the cooked blueberries.
  5. Add Sweetener: Stir 2 tablespoons of honey into the blueberry juice until fully dissolved and well mixed.
  6. Combine Tea and Blueberry Juice: Pour the cooled steeped green tea into a large jug. Add 1 1/2 cups of the blueberry juice mixture. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour until completely chilled.
  7. Serve: Serve the Blueberry Lemon Iced Tea over ice in glasses. Garnish with lemon wedges and fresh blueberries for an attractive presentation.

Notes

  • Do not squeeze the tea bags when removing to avoid bitterness.
  • Simmering the blueberries helps extract maximum flavor for the iced tea.
  • Honey can be adjusted to taste or substituted with other sweeteners.
  • This tea can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • For a stronger lemon flavor, add extra lemon juice when serving.
