Ingredients
Scale
For the Taco Filling
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning mix
For the Dough & Cheese
- 1 tube Pillsbury Pizza Dough
- 5 colby jack and cheddar cheese sticks, halved (for a total of 10 pieces)
For the Topping
- 4 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to ensure the taco sticks don’t stick and for easy cleanup.
- Cook the Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess fat and add the taco seasoning according to the packet instructions. Stir until the beef is evenly coated, then set aside.
- Prepare the Dough: On a lightly floured surface, unroll the Pillsbury Pizza Dough and gently roll it out if needed. Cut the dough into 10 equal rectangles, making them large enough to hold some beef and one half cheese stick each.
- Assemble the Taco Sticks: Spoon a small amount of the seasoned beef onto the center of each dough rectangle. Place a halved cheese stick on top of the beef. Carefully roll the dough around the filling, pinching the seams to seal and enclosing the cheese and beef completely. Place each on the prepared baking sheet, seam-side down.
- Brush with Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, garlic powder, and dried parsley. Use a pastry brush to generously coat each taco stick with this flavorful mixture.
- Bake: Transfer the baking sheet to the preheated oven and bake the taco sticks for 12-15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and fully cooked through.
- Serve: Allow the cheesy taco sticks to cool for a couple of minutes before serving. Enjoy them with salsa, guacamole, or sour cream for dipping!
Notes
- Swap ground beef for ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
- If you prefer extra heat, add diced jalapeños or a sprinkle of chili flakes to the beef mixture.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge and reheated in the oven for best texture.
- Customize the cheese filling with mozzarella, pepper jack, or your favorite melting cheese.
