Ingredients
Scale
Oatmeal Base
- 2 cup steel cut oats
- 2 & 2/3 cup water
- 2 cup milk
- 3/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3–4 tablespoons maple syrup
Instructions
- Combine Ingredients: Add the steel cut oats, water, milk, ground cinnamon, salt, and maple syrup into your Instant Pot. Stir everything together gently to mix the ingredients evenly but avoid spilling.
- Set Pressure Cooker: Close the Instant Pot lid securely and set the valve to sealing. Select the pressure cook/high pressure setting and set the timer for 4 minutes.
- Natural Pressure Release: Once the cooking cycle completes, allow the pressure to release naturally for 10 minutes. Then carefully turn the valve to venting to release any remaining pressure before opening the lid.
- Finish and Serve: Stir the cooked oats, adding more milk if you prefer a creamier texture. Serve warm topped with your choice of fresh fruit, nuts, or an extra drizzle of maple syrup for added sweetness and texture.
Notes
- You can adjust the liquid ratio slightly depending on how thick or creamy you prefer your oatmeal.
- Use any type of milk you like—dairy or plant-based alternatives will work well.
- Letting the pressure release naturally helps the oats finish cooking gently and results in a better texture.
- Leftover oatmeal can be refrigerated and reheated with a splash of milk for breakfast the next day.
- Try adding vanilla extract or a pinch of nutmeg for extra flavor variations.
