- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
- Make the Caramel Base: In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup until smooth and bubbling. Pour into a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Arrange the Bread: Place French bread slices over the caramel sauce in the dish.
- Prepare the Custard: Whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, salt, and cinnamon. Pour over bread slices.
- Chill Overnight: Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F. Bake the casserole for 35-40 minutes until set.
- Serve: Invert slices before serving warm with berries or sugar.
