Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 14 ounces dried seasoned stuffing cubes
  • 1 medium sweet onion, diced
  • 1/2 cup diced celery
  • 20 ounces cream of chicken soup
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground sage
  • 1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (more to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper (more to taste)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Slow Cooker: Spray the inside of your slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  2. Add Stuffing Mixture: Combine the dried stuffing cubes, diced sweet onion, diced celery, cream of chicken soup, and chicken broth inside the slow cooker. Stir gently to mix all ingredients evenly.
  3. Season with Sage: Sprinkle the ground sage evenly over the stuffing mixture to add warm, herbal flavor.
  4. Add Chicken: Lay the boneless, skinless chicken breasts on top of the stuffing mixture in a single layer. Season the chicken with salt and pepper to taste for enhanced flavor.
  5. Cook: Cover the slow cooker with the lid and cook on low heat for 4 hours and 30 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked through and tender.
  6. Shred or Slice Chicken: Once cooked, use two forks to shred the chicken breast directly in the slow cooker, or remove the chicken to a cutting board and slice into small pieces based on your preference.
  7. Combine and Serve: Stir the shredded or sliced chicken back into the stuffing mixture to combine all the flavors. Serve warm and enjoy your comforting meal.

Notes

  • Use a sweet onion for a milder, slightly sweet flavor. Yellow or white onions can also be used if preferred.
  • If you want a moister stuffing, add a little extra chicken broth before cooking.
  • Shredded chicken blends well into the stuffing, but sliced chicken offers a chunkier texture—choose according to your taste.
  • Feel free to add chopped mushrooms or herbs like thyme for additional flavor.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated gently on the stovetop or microwave.
