  • Author: Mariam
  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 12 sliders 1x

Description

These Italian Grinder Sliders feature layers of Genoa salami, deli turkey, pepperoni, and provolone cheese on Hawaiian rolls, baked to melty perfection with a garlic butter topping. Finished with a tangy and fresh grinder-style salad of romaine, banana peppers, red onion, and a parmesan vinaigrette, these sliders make a delicious and easy party or game-day snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Slider Sandwich

  • 12 pack Hawaiian rolls, sliced horizontally
  • 8 slices Genoa salami
  • 46 slices deli turkey
  • 12 slices deli pepperoni
  • 68 slices provolone cheese

Butter Topping

  • 5 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon parsley
  • ½1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Grinder Salad and Dressing

  • ⅓ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar (to taste)
  • ⅓ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2.53 cups romaine lettuce, finely shredded
  • ½ cup banana peppers, chopped (plus 12 tablespoons banana pepper juice)
  • ¼ cup red onion, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Rolls: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Slice the entire slab of Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally and place the bottom half in a baking dish to create the base for the sliders.
  2. Layer Meats and Cheese: Evenly layer the Genoa salami, deli turkey, provolone cheese, and pepperoni over the bottom half of the rolls. Then place the top buns back on to enclose the fillings.
  3. Make Garlic Butter Topping: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, garlic powder, parsley, and red pepper flakes (if using). Brush this mixture generously over the tops of the buns to add flavor and moisture.
  4. Bake the Sliders: Cover the baking dish with foil to keep the moisture in and bake for 20 minutes. This process melts the cheese and heats the meat thoroughly.
  5. Prepare the Grinder Topping: While the sliders bake, whisk together mayonnaise, red wine vinegar, Italian seasoning, a splash of banana pepper juice, and grated parmesan cheese in a large bowl. Adjust seasoning to taste.
  6. Mix Salad Ingredients: Add the finely shredded romaine lettuce, chopped banana peppers, and thinly sliced red onion to the dressing. Toss well until all the vegetables are evenly coated with the dressing.
  7. Assemble Topped Sliders: Carefully remove the sliders from the oven and lift off the top buns. Spoon the prepared grinder salad evenly over the melted cheese and meat layer.
  8. Finish and Serve: Replace the top buns, slice the entire slab into individual sliders, and serve immediately for best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • You can adjust the amount of red pepper flakes in the butter topping to increase or decrease the spice level.
  • Make sure to use finely shredded romaine for the best texture and to avoid sogginess when mixing with the dressing.
  • These sliders are best served fresh out of the oven while the cheese is warm and melty.
  • The banana pepper juice adds a nice tang to the dressing; add gradually to taste.
  • Hawaiian rolls provide a sweet contrast that complements the savory meats and tangy salad.
