Ingredients
- ½ cup tahini paste (stirred well)
- ¼ cup fresh lemon juice
- 2 cloves garlic (minced finely or pressed)
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt (more as needed)
- ¼ cup cold water (more as needed)
Instructions
- Mix Tahini and Lemon Juice: Place ½ cup of tahini paste, ¼ cup of fresh lemon juice, finely minced or pressed 2 cloves of garlic, and ½ teaspoon kosher salt into a mixing bowl. Whisk as much as possible until the mixture is combined. Expect the mixture to be thick at this stage, which is normal.
- Add Water for Consistency: Gradually pour in ¼ cup of cold water while continuing to whisk the mixture. Keep whisking until the sauce becomes smooth and reaches your desired consistency. Adjust by adding more water if you prefer a thinner sauce.
- Season to Taste: Taste the sauce and add more kosher salt or lemon juice if needed to suit your preference. Whisk again to ensure all ingredients are well incorporated before serving.
Notes
- If the sauce is too thick, add water gradually to thin it out.
- For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a small amount of chili flakes.
- This sauce can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
- Stir well before each use as natural separation may occur.
- Use fresh lemon juice for the best flavor.
