Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (spooned and leveled)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Sweets and Mix-ins

  • 1½ cups plain M&M’s (divided into 1 cup and ½ cup)
  • 1 cup plain mini M&M’s (divided into ½ cup and ½ cup)
  • 1½ cups good quality white baking chips (such as Ghirardelli)
  • 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk

Butter and Sugars

  • ½ cup salted sweet cream butter (softened)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ⅓ cup light brown sugar (packed)

Liquids and Flavorings

  • 2 tablespoons half and half
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Baking Dish: Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper and lightly spray it with nonstick spray. Set it aside for later use.
  2. Toast the Flour: Place the all-purpose flour into a small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 1 minute to heat-treat the flour, then allow it to cool completely. Once cooled, sift the flour to remove any lumps and ensure a smooth texture.
  3. Freeze M&M’s: Portion 1 cup of the plain M&M’s and ½ cup of the mini M&M’s into separate quart-size Ziploc bags. Place these bags in the freezer while you prepare the rest of the fudge to keep them firm.
  4. Cream Butter and Sugars: In a medium mixing bowl, use a handheld mixer to cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, light brown sugar, half and half, vanilla extract, and salt together for 1½ to 2 minutes until light and fluffy.
  5. Incorporate Flour: Reduce mixer speed to low and add the sifted flour. Mix just until the dry ingredients are well incorporated, forming a cookie dough base. Set aside.
  6. Melt White Chocolate Mixture: In a heat-safe medium bowl, combine the white baking chips and sweetened condensed milk. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each, until completely melted and smooth.
  7. Mix in Frozen M&M’s: Remove the M&M’s from the freezer and stir them into the cookie dough mixture using a wooden spoon, incorporating the crunchy chocolate candies evenly.
  8. Add White Chocolate Fudge Base: Pour the melted white chocolate and condensed milk mixture over the cookie dough mixture and stir just until all ingredients are fully combined.
  9. Transfer to Prepared Dish: Spoon the combined cookie dough fudge mixture into the lined baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  10. Top with Remaining M&M’s: Evenly sprinkle the remaining ½ cup plain M&M’s and ½ cup mini M&M’s over the top. Gently press the candies into the surface to adhere without crushing them.
  11. Chill and Set: Cover the dish tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate the fudge for at least 2 hours, or up to overnight, to fully set.
  12. Slice and Serve: Once chilled and firm, remove from the refrigerator and slice into 25 squares (5 pieces across and 5 down) for serving.

Notes

  • Microwaving the flour helps to kill any bacteria since this recipe uses raw flour that is not baked.
  • Freezing the M&M’s before mixing them in prevents them from melting into the fudge and keeps them crunchy.
  • Use good quality white baking chips for a smoother, creamier fudge texture.
  • The fudge is best stored in the refrigerator, covered, for up to one week.
  • For easier removal, lift the fudge out using the parchment paper lining.
  • Adjust the size of the squares to your preference; smaller pieces reduce calorie intake per serving.
