Ingredients
Scale
Biscuits
- 1 package refrigerated flaky biscuits
- 2 tbsp melted butter
Seafood Filling
- 1 cup cooked shrimp, chopped
- 1 cup lump crab meat, fresh or canned
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 tbsp Old Bay seasoning
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F to create the perfect temperature for baking golden, flaky biscuits.
- Flatten Biscuits: Gently press each biscuit dough round into a thinner circle on a parchment-lined baking tray, preparing them as the base and the top for your melts.
- Make Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped cooked shrimp, lump crab meat, shredded mozzarella, softened cream cheese, Old Bay seasoning, and fresh parsley. Mix thoroughly until the filling is creamy and well combined.
- Assemble Melts: Spoon the seafood filling onto half of the flattened biscuit rounds. Cover each with the remaining biscuit rounds and gently pinch the edges together to seal.
- Butter Tops: Brush the tops of each assembled biscuit melt with melted butter to give them a shiny, crisp, golden finish during baking.
- Bake: Place the biscuit melts in the preheated oven and bake for 13–15 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown on top.
- Cool and Serve: Remove from oven and let the melts rest for 2 minutes before serving to allow the filling to set slightly and to avoid burns.
Notes
- For best results, use fresh lump crab meat if possible; canned crab meat works well as a budget-friendly alternative.
- If you prefer a spicier filling, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or hot sauce to the seafood mixture.
- Serve these melts warm for the best texture and flavor.
- These can be prepared ahead of time and baked just before serving for a convenient appetizer.
