Ingredients

Scale

Shrimp

  • 1 pound fresh colossal shrimp (peeled & deveined, tails removed)

Seasoning

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the smoker: Set your smoker to 225°F (107°C) to ensure the optimal low and slow smoking temperature for shrimp.
  2. Prepare the spice mix: In a small bowl, combine 2 tablespoons chili powder, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, and 1 teaspoon ground black pepper. Mix well and set aside.
  3. Season the shrimp: Place the peeled and deveined shrimp in a large bowl. Drizzle with 2 tablespoons of olive oil and toss gently until evenly coated. Sprinkle the prepared spice mix over the shrimp and toss again to evenly distribute the seasoning.
  4. Arrange shrimp for smoking: Place the shrimp on the smoker rack or lay them on a sheet of aluminum foil to prevent any from falling through the grates. Ensure they are spread out in a single layer for even smoke exposure.
  5. Smoke the shrimp: Smoke the shrimp for about 60 minutes. The shrimp are done when they turn a vibrant pink color and develop a smoky aroma.
  6. Serve: Remove the shrimp from the smoker and serve immediately. Enjoy them as a flavorful appetizer or integrate into your favorite dishes.
