  • 1 cup (170g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons (28g) unsalted butter, chopped into small pieces
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (99g) granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup (71g) light brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 2 tablespoons (28ml) whole milk

Mix-ins

  • 1 and 1/2 cups milk chocolate M&Ms
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips

Garnish

  • 1/4 cup M&Ms
  • 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper and lightly spray with non-stick spray. Set aside.
  2. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. Melt Chocolate and Butter: In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips and butter. Heat on low power in 15-second intervals, stirring after each, until the mixture is smooth and fully melted. Avoid overheating to prevent the chocolate from seizing.
  4. Incorporate Sugars and Eggs: Whisk the vanilla extract into the melted chocolate mixture. Then, whisk in the granulated sugar and brown sugar until fully combined. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the milk.
  5. Mix Dough: Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined. Avoid over-mixing to maintain a soft texture.
  6. Add Mix-ins: Fold in the M&Ms and milk chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
