Description

This creamy and decadent Avocado Chocolate Mousse combines ripe avocados and rich cocoa to create a healthy, dairy-free dessert that’s quick and easy to prepare. Naturally sweetened with maple syrup and enhanced with a hint of vanilla and brewed coffee, this mousse is a perfect guilt-free indulgence for chocolate lovers.

Ingredients

Scale

Avocado Chocolate Mousse

  • 12 oz avocados (2 medium, ripe)
  • 0.6 oz cocoa powder (1/4 cup)
  • 2.2 oz chocolate chips (1/4 cup melted or 23 Tbsp Dutch-processed cocoa powder)
  • 1/4 cup milk (of choice)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup (or brown rice syrup, agave, coconut sugar, date sugar, honey, etc.; adjust to taste)
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp brewed coffee (optional, or instant espresso/coffee powder)

Instructions

  1. Melt the chocolate chips: Use a microwave or create a double boiler by placing a heat-proof bowl over a pan of simmering water, ensuring the water does not touch the bowl. Stir the chocolate chips frequently until completely melted and smooth.
  2. Blend all ingredients: Combine the melted chocolate, ripe avocados, cocoa powder, milk, vanilla extract, maple syrup, salt, and brewed coffee in a food processor or blender. Blend until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  3. Adjust flavor: Taste the mousse and modify the flavor by adding more vanilla extract or sweetener as desired to suit your palate.
  4. Chill and serve: Transfer the mousse to serving dishes and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow it to set and chill before serving for a refreshing, rich dessert experience.

Notes

  • Use ripe avocados for the creamiest texture and best flavor.
  • You can substitute the milk with any plant-based or dairy milk of your choice.
  • The brewed coffee enhances the chocolate flavor but can be omitted for a milder taste.
  • This mousse can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Adjust sweetness according to your preference, adding more maple syrup or sweetener if needed.
