Rice Krispie Treat Base

Caramel Drizzle

  • 5 ½ ounces caramel bits or caramels, unwrapped
  • 2 ½ tablespoons heavy whipping cream

Chocolate Drizzle

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ¼ cup heavy whipping cream

Instructions

  1. Melt Butter and Marshmallows: In a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, melt the butter and 6 cups of the miniature marshmallows, stirring constantly until the mixture is smooth and fully combined.
  2. Mix in Cereal and Pecans: Remove from heat and immediately stir in the Rice Krispies cereal, ⅓ cup of the chopped toasted pecans, and 1 cup of the un-melted miniature marshmallows. Mix until evenly coated.
  3. Press into Pan: Press the mixture firmly and evenly into a well-greased 9×13 inch baking pan. For thicker treats, use a slightly smaller pan.
  4. Melt Caramel Drizzle: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the caramel bits and 2 ½ tablespoons of heavy whipping cream. Heat in the microwave for 60 to 90 seconds, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth and creamy.
  5. Melt Chocolate Drizzle: In a separate bowl, combine the chocolate chips and ¼ cup heavy whipping cream. Microwave at 50% power for 90 seconds, stirring every 30 seconds, until the mixture is smooth.
  6. Layer Drizzles and Pecans: Drizzle half of the caramel mixture over the pressed Rice Krispies, followed by half of the chocolate drizzle. Sprinkle the remaining chopped pecans evenly on top, then drizzle the remaining caramel and chocolate mixtures over the pecans.
  7. Cool and Serve: Allow the treats to cool completely at room temperature, so the drizzles set. Once cooled, cut into squares and serve.
