Ingredients

  • 4 tbsp. vegetable oil, divided
  • 1 (16-oz.) pkg. frozen dumplings (pork, chicken, or vegetable)
  • 2 bell peppers, seeds and ribs removed, thinly sliced
  • 1 carrot, peeled, cut into matchsticks
  • 1/2 head of broccoli, chopped into small florets
  • Kosher salt
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp. finely chopped peeled ginger
  • 2 tbsp. soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp. sriracha
  • 1 tbsp. honey
  • 1 tbsp. unseasoned rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp. toasted sesame oil
  • 2 scallions, thinly sliced
  • Toasted sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Step 1: In a large nonstick skillet over medium heat, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Working in batches if needed, add dumplings in a single layer and cook, turning occasionally, until golden brown, about 2 to 3 minutes per side.
  2. Step 2: Pour in water until dumplings are covered by about one-third. Cover the skillet and cook until dumplings are cooked through, about 5 to 8 minutes more. Transfer dumplings to a plate and wipe out the skillet.
  3. Step 3: In the same skillet over medium-high heat, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Cook bell peppers and carrots, stirring frequently, until lightly charred and starting to soften, about 2 to 3 minutes. Transfer to a medium bowl.
  4. Step 4: In the same skillet over medium heat, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add broccoli and season with 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, until starting to soften, about 4 to 5 minutes. Transfer to the bowl with the bell pepper mixture.
  5. Step 5: In the same skillet over medium heat, heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add garlic and ginger and cook, stirring, until fragrant, about 1 minute. Reduce heat to medium-low. Stir in soy sauce, sriracha, honey, rice vinegar, and toasted sesame oil. Bring to a simmer and cook, stirring gently, until the liquid is slightly reduced, about 5 minutes. Return dumplings and vegetables to the skillet and toss to combine.
  6. Step 6: Top with sliced scallions and toasted sesame seeds before serving.

Tips & Variations

  • For extra crispiness, make sure the dumplings are dry before frying to avoid splattering.
  • Adjust the amount of sriracha for milder or spicier sauce according to your preference.
  • Substitute vegetables with snap peas, mushrooms, or zucchini for variety.
  • Use vegetarian dumplings to make this dish meat-free without sacrificing flavor.

Storage

Store leftover dumpling stir-fry in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently in a skillet over medium heat to maintain the dumplings’ crispness, or microwave until heated through.
