Ingredients
Scale
Crust
- 1 premade thin pizza crust (9–12 inch)
Apple Topping
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened)
- 2/3 cup packed coconut sugar (or brown sugar)
- Juice of half a lemon
- 3 Honeycrisp apples (peeled and thinly sliced)
- 1/2 tablespoon ground cinnamon
Glaze
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tablespoons whole milk
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the premade thin pizza crust on a round baking sheet to prepare for baking.
- Cook Apples: In a small pot over medium heat, combine the softened butter, coconut sugar, and lemon juice. Stir continuously as the butter melts and the sugar dissolves, about 1 to 2 minutes. Add the peeled and thinly sliced Honeycrisp apples, coating them thoroughly in the butter-sugar mixture. Cook the apples for 2 to 3 minutes until they begin to soften.
- Assemble and Bake Pizza: Evenly spread the cooked apple mixture, along with all the buttery syrup, over the pizza crust. Sprinkle ground cinnamon over the apples for a warm spice flavor. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the toppings are bubbly and lightly browned.
- Prepare Glaze: While the pizza cools for about 5 minutes after baking, whisk together the powdered sugar and 1 to 2 tablespoons of whole milk until smooth and pourable, creating a sweet glaze.
- Glaze and Serve: Drizzle the glaze evenly over the warm apple pizza. Slice into servings and serve immediately to enjoy the perfect balance of crisp crust, tender apples, and sweet glaze.
Notes
- For a vegan version, substitute butter with coconut oil and use a plant-based milk for the glaze.
- Using Honeycrisp apples adds a lovely balance of sweetness and tartness, but Granny Smith or Fuji apples can be used as alternatives.
- If coconut sugar is unavailable, brown sugar works perfectly as a substitute.
- Ensure apples are thinly sliced to ensure even cooking and soft texture.
- To make the glaze thicker, reduce the amount of milk slightly; for a thinner glaze, add a bit more milk.
