Soft and Chewy Matcha Brownies Recipe

  • Author: Mariam
  • Total Time: 38 minutes
  • Yield: 9 brownies (3x3 grid) 1x

Description

These soft and chewy matcha brownies combine the rich flavors of white chocolate and buttery goodness with the unique earthy taste of matcha powder. Baked to perfection, they offer a delightful twist on traditional brownies with a vibrant green hue and a perfectly moist, tender crumb.

Ingredients

Scale

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Butter
  • 4 oz White chocolate chips
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup Granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup Flour
  • 2 tbsp Matcha powder
  • 1/4 tsp Baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, ensuring the edges hang over the sides for easy removal later.
  2. Melt Butter and White Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter and white chocolate chips together. Heat in 30-second increments, stirring well between each, until the mixture is smooth and fully combined.
  3. Mix Eggs and Sugars: In a stand mixer bowl, combine the eggs, egg yolk, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Beat on medium-high speed until the mixture becomes thick, creamy, and pale in color, about 3-5 minutes.
  4. Combine Chocolate Mix and Dry Ingredients: Pour the melted chocolate and butter mixture into the egg mixture and whisk to incorporate. Then gently fold in the sifted flour, baking powder, salt, and matcha powder until just combined, being careful not to overmix to keep the brownies tender.
  5. Bake: Pour the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 23 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs but no raw batter.
  6. Cool and Slice: Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack. Once cooled, use the parchment paper edges to lift them out and slice into squares. Serve and enjoy.

Notes

  • Ensure not to overbake to maintain the chewy texture.
  • Use high-quality matcha powder for the best flavor and vibrant color.
  • The brownies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerated for longer freshness.
  • Allow brownies to cool completely before slicing to prevent crumbling.
  • Adjust sweetness by altering the amount of brown and granulated sugar as desired.
