Green & Red Grape Sorbet Recipe

Introduction

This Green & Red Grape Sorbet is a refreshing and naturally sweet treat perfect for warm days. Featuring two types of grapes, it offers a vibrant color contrast and a deliciously smooth texture. Easy to make at home, it requires just a few ingredients and no ice cream maker.

There are two dessert glasses with scoops of sorbet placed on a white marbled surface. The glass on the left holds three rounded scoops of yellow sorbet stacked closely with a slightly rough texture. The glass on the right has two larger rounded scoops of deep red sorbet with a frosty, smooth but slightly grainy surface. Both glasses are clear and have short stems with a solid base. In front of the glasses, two silver spoons with wooden handles lie flat on the white marbled surface. The background is a textured blue color. photo taken with an iphone --ar 4:5 --v 7

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. cotton candy or green muscat grapes (about 3 1/2 cups)
  • 1 lb. red raisin grapes (about 3 1/2 cups)
  • 2 tbsp. (or more) light agave syrup
  • 1/8 tsp. fresh lemon juice
  • 1/3 cup (100% juice) concord grape concentrate, thawed

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Wash and rinse grapes, then remove stems. Divide grapes between two parchment-lined baking sheets—one for green grapes and one for red grapes—that fit in your freezer. Freeze grapes for at least 6 hours or preferably overnight.
  2. Step 2: Transfer the green grapes to a food processor; keep the red grapes frozen. Add agave syrup and 1/4 cup water to the processor. Pulse until fairly smooth, about 30 seconds. Scrape down the sides, taste, and add more agave if needed. Add lemon juice and pulse again until smooth, about 30 seconds. Transfer to a medium bowl.
  3. Step 3: Wipe out the food processor, then pulse the red grapes with the concord grape concentrate until mostly smooth, about 30 seconds. Scrape down the sides and continue pulsing until smooth, about 30 seconds more.
  4. Step 4: Serve the sorbet immediately for a soft texture, or for a firmer consistency, divide it between two freezer-safe containers and freeze for at least 3 more hours before scooping.
  5. Step 5: For make-ahead convenience, the sorbet can be stored frozen for up to 30 days.

Tips & Variations

  • Use cotton candy grapes for extra sweetness or muscat grapes for a floral note. Adjust agave syrup to taste based on grape sweetness.
  • For a tangier flavor, add a little more fresh lemon juice or substitute with lime juice.
  • Try blending the grapes with a splash of sparkling water for a lighter sorbet variant.

Storage

Store the sorbet in airtight, freezer-safe containers for up to 30 days. To reheat, let it sit at room temperature for 5–10 minutes to soften slightly before scooping. If the sorbet becomes too hard, stirring it gently can help restore creaminess.

How to Serve

The image shows a white bowl filled with three light green scoops of creamy sorbet with a slightly grainy texture on the top left, next to another white bowl containing two bright red scoops of smooth sorbet with a metal spoon inside. To the right, there is a rectangular metal container filled with more red sorbet, textured and slightly frozen, with a metal ice cream scoop resting on it, holding a scoop of the red sorbet. FAQs

Can I use other types of grapes for this sorbet?

Yes, you can use other sweet grapes, but cotton candy or muscat grapes work best for their unique sweetness and flavor. Avoid overly tart grapes to keep the sorbet balanced.

Do I need an ice cream maker to make this sorbet?

No, this recipe does not require an ice cream maker. Freezing the grapes first and pulsing them in a food processor creates a smooth sorbet texture without specialized equipment.

Description

This Green & Red Grape Sorbet recipe offers a refreshing and naturally sweet frozen treat made from green muscat grapes and red raisin grapes, sweetened with light agave syrup and enhanced with a splash of fresh lemon juice and concord grape concentrate. Perfect as a healthy dessert or palate cleanser, this sorbet is easy to prepare and can be made ahead for convenience.

Ingredients

Scale

Green Grape Sorbet

  • 1 lb. cotton candy or green muscat grapes (about 3 1/2 cups)
  • 2 tbsp. light agave syrup (or more, to taste)
  • 1/8 tsp. fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup water

Red Grape Sorbet

  • 1 lb. red raisin grapes (about 3 1/2 cups)
  • 1/3 cup (100% juice) concord grape concentrate, thawed

Instructions

  1. Prepare the grapes: Wash and rinse the green muscat and red raisin grapes thoroughly, then remove all stems. Divide the grapes onto two separate parchment-lined baking sheets — one for green grapes and one for red grapes — ensuring the trays will fit in your freezer. Freeze the grapes for at least 6 hours, ideally overnight, until completely frozen.
  2. Process green grapes: Transfer the frozen green grapes to a food processor, keeping the red grapes frozen separately. Add 2 tablespoons of light agave syrup and 1/4 cup of water to the processor. Pulse the mixture for about 30 seconds until it becomes fairly smooth. Scrape down the sides of the bowl, taste the mixture, and add more agave syrup if desired. Add 1/8 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice and pulse for an additional 30 seconds until smooth. Transfer this green grape sorbet base to a medium bowl.
  3. Process red grapes: Clean and wipe out the food processor bowl. Add the frozen red grapes along with the thawed 1/3 cup of concord grape concentrate. Pulse for about 30 seconds until mostly smooth. Scrape the sides of the bowl and continue pulsing for another 30 seconds until the texture is smooth.
  4. Serve or freeze: You can enjoy the sorbet immediately for a softer texture. For a firmer, more traditional sorbet consistency, divide each sorbet mixture between two freezer-safe containers and freeze for at least 3 more hours before scooping.
  5. Make ahead tips: This sorbet can be made up to 30 days in advance. Keep frozen in airtight containers until ready to serve.

Notes

  • Choosing seedless grapes will ensure a smoother sorbet texture.
  • Adjust the amount of agave syrup to your preferred level of sweetness.
  • Use parchment-lined baking sheets to prevent grapes from sticking during freezing.
  • To soften the sorbet slightly after freezing, leave it at room temperature for 5-10 minutes before scooping.
  • Ensure the grape concentrate is 100% juice for authentic flavor without added sugars.
